Happy New Year! …. a good time to remember the lighter side of life. Some would say that you should always look on that bright side [Insert whistle noise].
The run up to December 25th can sometimes be a stressful one (even more stressful that vandalism, irony and lists). And all those heightened emotions can lead to January-blues setting in after the festivities have ended. So to kick off 2021 with hopefully a chuckle (or at least just a groan of acknowledgment), try these jokes on for size and keep reading for this month’s encouragements.
“How does King Wenceslas like his pizza? Deep pan, crisp and even”
“There are 10 kinds of people….. those who understand binary and those who don’t”
“How much does it cost to buy sixty female pigs and forty male deer? One hundred sows and bucks”
“Have you heard the latest statistics joke? Probably”
“A man goes to his nearest zoo. He walks around the entire place and the only animal there is a dog. It was a shih tzu.”
You might need a few moments to compose yourself after those howlers! This month’s encouragements will hopefully get your year off to a smiling start.
Encouragement 1: Think back to a time when you were in an uncontrollable laughing fit.
One of those real belly laughs or where breathing, let alone talking, is a nearly impossible task. It probably happened a few seconds ago when you read the Zoo joke. BRILLIANT! But, just in case, think back to when something tickled your sense of humor so effectively that it rendered you useless…… but a very happy useless.
Encouragement 2: Remember the names (or faces) of who was with you at the time of the laughing fit.
Perhaps they were in the same giggly state as you or perhaps they weren’t. No matter…. who was it that shared that experience with you?
Encouragement 3: Make a point of reconnecting with that person/those people in the next week.
Maybe it’s a loved one and you see them frequently so just reminding them of the laughing fit is sufficient. Or maybe it’s someone you haven’t spoken to in a while and you can use this as a perfect excuse to reconnect with them, wish them a Happy New Year and reminisce about the hysterical situation that got you all tangled up in laughter.
Happy Funny New Year! Nothing too strenuous in this month’s encouragements but the concept of connecting with people and using shared experiences as a path to connection can’t be overestimated as an effective tool for navigating life or work. We at
Enlightened Leadership Consulting would be honored to connect with you and make this year, 2021 be an EPIC one.
