Enlighten your learners

A stable pool of facilitators were used to deliver the program and when new additions to the program were piloted, the same pool of facilitators were used. A number of contributing factors (overloaded schedules, increased demand, focus on virtual learning etc) led to Enlightened Leadership Consulting being requested to facilitate the programs. From the very first delivery we did, Danielle shared that the learner feedback was markedly different. One learner even stated ‘I’m not sure I’ll be able to sleep tonight, I’m so excited to put this into action.’ Danielle now views us as a trusted partner to complement her existing resources and deploys us both as part of her business as usual curricula as well as for strategically significant deliveries.

Rising to the Challenge
individual-case-studies "Never lose sight of your dreams, for your dreams can be your guidance" -Jen DaviesTracy was successful in her job. “Safe pair of hands” was a phrase many people at her organization used when talking about Tracy’s competence. People who reported to Tracy would often send emails or tell her directly how much they appreciated her leadership style. It was clear that the people Tracy interacted with valued the fact that she cared about the ‘people side of things’ just as much as the bottom line and business results. Projects would routinely get completed on time with issues getting escalated in a timely manner and resolved efficiently. I met Tracy shortly after her hard work and dedication rewarded her with a promotion. As part of her new role, she was responsible for a monthly high stakes leadership meeting where she was expected to be on the agenda to present on certain topics. Unfortunately, Tracy had always hated public speaking and giving presentations. It invoked an extreme physical reaction in her. After one of these monthly meetings, her legs would not stop shaking before, during and for about 30 minutes afterwards. During her presentation another one of these meetings the unthinkable happened. She completely froze….. for what seemed like an eternity. One of the meeting attendees asked ‘Tracy, errrr are you ok?’. She made the decision to leave the meeting. Shortly afterwards she engaged me to help with her presentation skills. At the end of the four weeks we worked together, Tracy said ‘this has changed my life’. She may not look forward to the presentations but her nervous energy is under control and she regularly gets feedback of ‘outstanding’- not because of what she’s saying but the way she’s presenting the information.

Sparkle in an Interview
individual-case-studiesBen at age 34 made the significant decision to alter the course of his and his wife’s life to pursue his dream of becoming a Doctor. He left the family business, sold the majority of his belongings, sold the house he and his wife had built (their dream house), took on large amounts of debt in the form of student loans and enrolled in a relevant undergraduate degree program. I met Ben for the first time 6 years later. He’d completed undergraduate and also his Masters in Biomedical Science and now was entrenched in the application process to med school. He had applied to 57 medical schools that he felt gave him the best chance of accepting him given his personal circumstances. Before the first of his med school interviews he scheduled a mock interview / debriefing session with me. At the end of the 90 minutes, his wife took a photo of the sweat under his armpits. It had been a challenging session to say the least….. But Ben was over the moon with the session and while not typical and not intending to raise unreasonable expectations, the second school that interviewed Ben after the mock interview session accepted him. When I asked Ben for a brief testimonial, he said “Coming into interview season for medical school, I was a bit apprehensive about my skills as an interviewee. After my session with Dave, I felt energized and much more prepared in my ability to field questions with a higher level of confidence than I thought possible. Dave helped coach me through avoiding common pitfalls and showed me how to navigate an interview in a way that would highlight my strengths to the committee.
